The average golfer loses swing speed every decade after 30 — not because of age, but because of stiffness. This daily golf mobility routine takes just a few minutes and targets the three areas that matter most for your swing: hips, thoracic spine (mid-back), and hamstrings.
Why mobility matters more than you think
Most swing faults I see in my TPI golf fitness assessments trace back to mobility restrictions, not technique. If your hips can’t rotate or your thoracic spine is locked up, your body compensates — usually with your lower back. That’s where pain and inconsistency come from.
How to use this routine
Follow along with the video once a day — morning, or as part of your pre-round warmup. Move slowly, breathe into each position, and never force range of motion. Consistency beats intensity: five minutes daily does more than one long stretch session a week.
When stretching isn’t enough
If a restriction doesn’t budge after a few weeks of daily work, it may be a stability problem rather than a flexibility problem — and that’s exactly what a TPI golf fitness screen is designed to find. My Performance Assessment ($100) in Hamilton, Ontario tests your mobility against the demands of the golf swing and gives you a plan to fix what’s actually limiting you.
